Q&A with our Whole Store founder

Welcome to Whole Store!

Whole Store is a physical and online store that offers natural and sustainable products to help you live more consciously.

Founded by osteopath, Faye Kendall, Whole Store began out of a desire to continue to support clients outside the realm of the clinic space. With many clients asking for advice about products that can help improve their health and reduce their environmental impact, Faye felt there was a need to fill this void in health care.

We speak to Faye about Whole Store's ethos and how she hopes to build a thriving community of like-minded people wanting to enhance their way of living.

As a health practitioner, what insights have influenced you to want to create Whole Store?

As a health care practitioner, I'm working with patients to help improve their health in all areas of their life. Whilst patients would often ask me for my advice around healthy food or what supplements to take, in the last few years I've also had patients asking me about what chemicals and other ingredients are in skincare products or where they could get natural and sustainable products to use in their homes.

We have access to so much information now and people are wanting to know what goes into the products they use daily. As a health practitioner, I would never offer advice or treatment to someone without first giving them the full story of what is going on with them. Yet, when it comes to products we use on our body's or in our homes every day we don't get the same level of transparency. Just because a bottle says it's natural or eco-friendly doesn't mean that's necessarily true. And therefore, as consumers, we have to wade through the information on our own to work out whether or not we should be using those products.

By starting Whole Store, I wanted to bridge that gap between the two and offer a retail store where our customers can trust that we've done the research for them and that whatever they are buying is going to be good for them and our planet.

What is your vision for the Whole Store?

For reusable, natural and sustainable products to be the norm, not the exception.

We are stocking products that we are happy to consume and use on our bodies and in our homes.

Why are you passionate about a waste-less approach?

We all know that we have problems with plastics in our oceans and natural habitats and that something needs to change. A large majority of Australians want to reduce their environmental footprint, however, businesses, industries and Governments have been slow to address these issues. This means that the products we buy and use daily are often packaged in single-use plastics that can be extremely damaging to our planet and the animals who share it with us.

We want to make it as easy as possible for people to choose a reduced waste lifestyle. Our refill stations and sustainable packaging provides people with the option of saying 'no' to plastic. We have teamed up with suppliers who hold the same values as we do in that they are passionate about reducing waste and inspired to make a difference.

Community is a key aspect of Whole Store. Why is community connection important to you and how do you see that working at Whole Store?

We can all make a difference as an individual, but we can make an even bigger difference when we work together as a community.

Our whole store community is made up of people just like you and me. We may come from different backgrounds and have lived different experiences, but what we have in common is that we all care about our environment and we want to make choices that look after our health and the health of our planet as a whole.

Whether it's a team member, customer, supplier or even just someone dropping in for a cup of tea at one of our stores, it's our community that drives us to do what we do and to keep improving.
